PP-Mg:SLT waveguides are waveguide-type wavelength conversion devices constructed by drawing a cladding layer on PP-Mg:SLT using an fs laser. This device was created in response to the need to leverage the power tolerance of PP-Mg:SLT material while achieving higher conversion efficiency. Compared to bulk devices, the conversion efficiency is more than an order of magnitude higher. Although conventional waveguide devices have limitations on input power, this waveguide can accept laser input in the several-watt class, and can generate more than 3 W of visible output as a conversion component. Despite its waveguide structure, it maintains the bulk-level laser durability inherent to the material.
・It is a cladding-layer direct-drawing structure using a femtosecond laser.
・Wavelength conversion in the several watt class is possible.
・Generation and conversion in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions are possible.
・Because the waveguide structure is written inside the material, the propagation light mode can be maintained as a perfect circle, similar to an optical fiber.
・The core portion through which light propagates is not modified in any way, allowing the bulk material’s durability to be preserved.
