Environment

Policy

We position climate change as a key management priority.
We contribute to reducing the global environmental impact by cutting CO2 emissions from our business activities and reducing societal CO2 emissions through the use of our products.

Target

  • We will advance research and development of next-generation power semiconductor materials that reduce energy loss and contribute to lowering societal CO2 emissions, as well as single crystals for sensors used in smart grids.
  • Amid anticipated rapid CO2 emissions growth due to business expansion, we will limit FY2030 CO2 emissions to +159% compared to FY2021 levels (scope1+scope2) through improved production efficiency and introduction of energy-saving equipment.

Environmental Roadmap

2020〜2050.loadmap
  1. Providing Products Contributing to Reduced Societal CO2 Emissions See “Development of Environmentally Contributing Products”.
  2. Initiatives to Reduce CO₂ Emissions
  • We are reducing electricity consumption through continuous improvements in production efficiency, new installations of energy-saving equipment, and switching to high-performance machinery.
  • We have introduced a CO₂ emissions calculation cloud service to visualize CO₂ emissions at each factory. We set reduction targets and manage progress for each factory.
  • Our Yokohama facility uses renewable energy for part of its electricity.

Development of Environmentally Contributing Products

Through our power semiconductor and energy businesses, we manufacture and develop products that contribute to a carbon-neutral future.

  1. SiC Single Crystals: With high voltage resistance and low conduction resistance, they enable reduced transmission losses, more efficient power control, and extended EV driving range.
  2. β-Ga₂O₃ Single Crystals: Capable of operation under high voltage, contributing to energy savings in general-purpose electrical appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators.
  3. RTP Crystals: Used as precise electric field sensors (for measuring current in each transmission line) for power control in smart grids.

Collaboration with External Initiatives

OXIDE participated in the “GX League Basic Concept” announced by the Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry in April 2022, aiming to create a future where a carbon-neutral society and economy can coexist.
